About Lorie
I moved from Canada to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 2003 and later made the Mat-Su Valley my home in 2006. Most of my nursing career was dedicated to the operating room, until the last 12 years when I transitioned into healthcare administration. I earned a Master’s degree in Leadership and Administration, and I currently serve as the Administrator and Director of Nursing at Alaska Digestive Center. In 2010, I married my husband, Russ, and in 2013 I was proud to become a U.S. citizen. Together, we have four children and recently welcomed our first grandson. Alaska has given me both personal and professional opportunities I deeply value, and I’m committed to serving my community with dedication, integrity, and care.

My Mission
I am running as a candidate for the Mat-Su School Board District 7 to help ensure our schools reflect Alaska’s values of hard work, responsibility, and respect for one another. My priority is to put students first by keeping the focus on strong academics, teamwork, and fostering both personal and social growth.
I believe in responsible budgeting that directs taxpayer dollars to classrooms. I will support safe schools where parents can trust their children are protected, and I will work for transparency and accountability, so families know their voices are heard. I also believe in school choice, because families deserve the freedom to decide what educational path best fits their children’s needs.
Strong leadership means working together. I will advocate for parents to have a strong voice in curriculum decisions, school policies, and the values taught in our classrooms. By collaborating with parents, teachers, and our community, I will keep our schools focused on excellence, accountability, and preparing students for success in both life and career.
Together, we can strengthen the future of education, while protecting the values that make Alaska strong.

My Vision
“My vision for Mat-Su schools is to provide a safe and supportive environment where every student can grow in knowledge, character, and responsibility. I believe schools should reflect the values of our community—hard work, respect, and integrity—while preparing students for success in life. By working together with parents, teachers, and the community, we can be good stewards of resources and ensure our schools remain strong for generations to come.”
